I tried searching but I did not find a guide by Google or searching this forum. There are simple guides on converting a single drive and then add a mirror. But I cannot find an example on how to take a strip set and mirror 2 additional hard drives. Please help me. Thank you.

Please comment on the following:
Create 2 drive strip set as a Volumn
Zpool ad0 PoolName1 ad2
Zpool ad1 PoolName2 ad3

Does this sound right? Thank you.

If you're creating a new pool, you can do it all in one step through the web GUI's volume manager. But if you have two disks striped already, you'd follow the instructions you've already found to add a mirror, and do that twice--add a mirror first to the one striped disk, then to the second.

I am creating a new pool for this procedure. Like you mentioned, can I do the 4 drive strip mirror set "all in one step through the web GUI's volume manager"? I am on 9.1. Again Thank you for your help.

Yes, as I just said. It will look like this:

I am on 9.1.
For heaven's sake, why? That release is almost 5 years old. Or did you mean 9.10, which is something completely different?

Why on earth are you running 9.1?

Ask for system specs and I bet you'll get your (misguided) answer.........

Please follow @danb35 "s advice to create your pool via the webGUI, When created by the webGUI, FreeNAS creates a 2Gb swap partition on each drive (to assist with disk replacements) and uses GPTID's rather than device names.

Sorry. I am running FreeNAS-9.10.2-U6 (561f0d7a1).
With the GUI, I am unable to configure a mirror strip set correctly. I have 12 4TB drives. The GUI sees it as the wrong size and I only get 7.27TB.

But with RaidZ, RaidZ2 or RaidZ3. I don't have a problem. With RaidZ3, I get 21.83TB. What am I doing wrong?

You’re creating a 6-way mirror. Each vdev occupy a row. Drag 2 across and 6 down.
