SOLVED Is the paid version of FreeNAS different from the free one?

No. TrueNAS has features that are not present in FreeNAS.

But, if you are referring to the FreeNAS that ships with iXsystems hardware like the FreeNAS Mini - then it's the same software that you can download for free.
