Hi all,
to be technically accurate Plex and freenas just stopped working on my previous version (Corral), so I took the plunge and "upgraded" to version 11.
I've imported my volume and setup my SMB share, (though I don't fully understand how the permissions are working, I seem to be able to read and write to the volume, so happy days).

I've followed multiple guides on how to setup the Plex media server plugin, but no matter what I try the plugin won't start.
I've installed the plugin, I've assigned storage to it as directed but the slider thing won't go from off to on.

I've set the ip address to what I want I to be on the jail, but I'm not able to ping it.... do I need to do something else ?

I apologise in advance, but I'm not unix / Linux experienced most of my life I've been a windows, so simple answers / help would be much appreciated.

To clarify: how exactly did you upgrade? Did you do a fresh install of 11?

Hi Sorry for the late response.... yeah my system became unbootable after I tried applying the v11 upgrade... so I downloaded the iso and started from scratch, imported my volume etc etc... In protest, I've downloaded Plex for Windows and installed it on a virtual server, added my libraries (on Freenas) and it just works... why it can't be that simple on Freenas is beyond me.

If you're starting fresh you'll have to reinstall Plex. You're best off installing it manually in a standard jail.

are you sure Plex isn't running? Sometimes there are glitches and the plugin slider simply doesn't show it but the jail and the services inside the jail are actually running.

It would give you better resource utilization to install Plex in a Jail directly under BSD instead of running a Windows VM with all the overhead of Windows just to get Plex.
If you would go through your configuration with us, I am sure we could find a solution for you.
