Invisible nas & how to share ?

Hi,
I'm new in freenas and i still can't figure out why i can't see my homemade nas on my network in windows

i create a group
then a user
i give the rights to the user rwx for this group
i create a sghared folder using smb
then ?

In file explorer type \\<IP of nas\ and you should see your shares

Permissions don't work like that. You set the permissions on the folders and that combined with the folders owner:group information is how the system decides what access you get.

So file thing1 and be owned by Ramesh:admin_group with 777 (w/r/x for all)
and file thing2 and be owned by Ramesh:admin_group with 033 would be w/r/x for Ramesh but everyone else only has read access.

So you see the group and owner only say who the permissions apply to.
