Looks like it's using the ASM2824 PLX chip, which likely means 4x to each drive but only 8x to each host (effectively 2x per drive) - but also means no need for bifurcation support.

Wonder how it would compare cost-wise with a DIY solution of an x16 quad-M.2 carrier card and a four-pack of something like WD Black SN750?
