Before this I had a second-hand Synology NAS worked fine for about a week it gave me bad sectors so I took it back and built this.

Over to you, Sweet... two coaches isn't going to work here, I fear. I'm out.
Ehh I don't think there is much to do here. Network is super messed up, no DHCP server, multiple ip's on the freenas sever when multiple subnets. I don't even have this much complexity on my own network.

Just plug everything into one router. It will work if you do that.

wow is this what happens when someone buys a FreeNAS system so it doesn't work it your network, or it's your network card, that's a copout

When I'm volunteering my time to help a random person on the internet it does. You didn't post hardware specs, you bounce all over the place, you have no clue how your own network is setup. There is no way to help you when I don't have any information.

I told you what your problem most likely is, you don't have network connectivity in your jail it's because the network doesn't have dhcp and is super messed up.

no offence didn't know if you were a paid mod. Was a network engineer for 10 years so I know how a network mainly windows through

@SweetAndLow

I had this same issue, and your help worked (just wanted to mention so not wasted).
In my case it was as simple as not specifying a default gateway to my router in global configuration!

After reading this post - I specified 192.168.1.1 for namerserver and default gateway and TrueNas gave me 2 nameservers in Network Summary of the same address. It worked, then I removed the nameserver1 and just left default gateway to my router in Global Configuration as 192.168.1.1.

This then gave me one nameserver of 192.168.1.1 in network summary. Also works.

Thanks for your help in the post.

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks sweet, did the setup once before and it worked. Second time around did not until i read your comment. Added Name Server and Default Route under Network>Global Config in truenas and everything started to work. Thanks!
