I recently purchased an Intel Pro 1000GT PWLA8391GT adapter for an older system that I wanted to turn into a home server using FreeNAS. However when I installed the new card it seems that the card isnt supported natively by Freenas.

I am wondering if there is a way i can install drivers for this adapter in freenas. I have search several forums and found no steps on how to do this. There has to be a way to do it but i am very new to linux systems and freenas.

If there is anyone that can explain how to do this i would appreciate it. I have found the drivers for freebsd on the intel website so if i can get these to install i should be up and running.

Any help would be great thanks!

Your best bet is to create a feature request at bugs.freenas.org and post the issue number here. That way it can be included in the base system and the developer has access to someone with the hardware who can test that the driver works.

FYI.. PCI cards aren't recommended for servers at all.
