I have a system with FreeNAS installed on.

With all the hardware, we have a HP 10Gbit NIC (NC522SFP) that needs to run. It is physically installed, but the system won't pick it up.

I've checked the FreeNAS 8 Hardware Compatibility list, to find that the card isnt there.

I have found the Drivers for multiple OS's at: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...TypeId=329290&prodSeriesId=3913537&taskId=135

Is there any way I can use any of these drivers on the FreeNAS OS?

Nope..... FreeBSD is not Linux. None of those drivers will work. You could try downloading a FreeBSD 9.1 Live distro and see if the NIC is detected/works with that. You *might* be able to recompile a driver from 9.1 if it does work with the Live distro, otherwise if it works with 9.1 you'll have to wait for FreeNAS 9.1 sometime around June.

I understand its not Linux, but I need to refuse that there is no way.

I am in a business that needs to copy 14tb of data NOW :/
I really urgently need a way to do this :(

Well if you try my suggestion with FreeBSD 9.1 and it works, you can create your pool on FreeNAS, export it, import it in FreeBSD, copy your data, export your pool, reimport it with FreeNAS, and find another NIC that will work later.

Just an idea....

I really appreciate the help. Unfortunately I am unable to find any such drivers that are compatible with this NIC at all. The chipsets arent even the same :/

Even *if* there was, I am unfortunately completely ignorant (though willingly learning) about how to do any of that.

Unfortunately I think you need to look for another NIC since after a bit of digging it doesn't look like it will work with FreeBSD 9.1.

My manager has gone to the route of installing WinServer 2008... Thank for all the help though.

Does the HP NC522SFP+ (10gb dual nic) work with freenas? ..Or can you get it to work?

That controller is essentially a re-branded Qlogic QLE3242 which works fine. I am using one in my NAS and can pull over 990MB/s!

I've got a HP NC522SFP+ and mine's not being picked up under Freenas 9.2.1.2 -- the card works fine under Windows on the same box, so I know the link and card are OK. akc360 is there anything special you need to do to get FreeNAS to recognize the card?

Hi Greg,

I didn't have to do anything for mine but I am using official qlogic version, maybe try flashing to qlogic firmware? (Do your research first as this is potentially risky!).

Anyone know if or have any luck flashing QLogic QLE3142 firmware to an HP NC522SFP?
