This might be a little far out, but I read people saying they have certain VMs installed on their FreeNAS servers. I've looked and I can only find the way to install FreeNAS on a VM rather than the other way round.

Is this possible?

Yes. Create a jail and use the VirtualBox template.

The FreeNAS manual is also a great place for some info.

Hi, i have a little problem with my virtualbox jail.
I have successfully created the jail in freenas 9.3 and I can connect to the webgui. I have mounted a image from Debian and I can see in the little preview window the installation screen.

But I can't connect to the desktop via rdp clients.

I have activated the rdp server under port 9000.

Does anyone know what's my failure is?

Thank you

Have you tried a vnc viewer on port 9000?

Yes, i have tried the Microsoft Standard Client under Win10, under iOS and Android.

I have changed the port in the settings from the server and the client to 3389. This doesn't work, too.

You are referring to rdp, I am talking about vnc. Try tight vnc viewer. And use it to connect to whatever port you have configured.

This is not rdp, do not use the windows native remote desktop client, it is an rdp client and not a vnc client.
