I've been using XenServer VMs to test various 9.2.x FreeNAS versions. 9.2.1.9 installed perfectly. Fresh install of 9.3 crashes at this point. Any ideas?
Installed plain FreeBSD 10.1 on the same XenServer without any issues. I see grub bootloader menu with various kfreebsd commands. How do I set this to debug mode or tracing?
Not sure, but if you create a bug report at bugs.freenas.org the dev will indicate which commands to run to get more info. If you do create a bug report, post the issue number here.
I did not have a chance to troubleshoot this and log a bug. I have to correct my earlier statement. I went back and tried to install older version of freenas and ran into similar issue. I'm using newer hardware (Lenovo TS140 with 3.2 GHz Intel Xeon E3-1225 v3) to host XenServer host and wonder if it is related. I will try FreeBSD 9.3 installation next.
Finally got 9.2.1.2 and 9.2.1.9 to install successfully. Not sure why it didn't work the first time. Install of 9.3 failed in a different spot now and bug has been created https://bugs.freenas.org/issues/7376
