Hi,
I am trying to install freenas on Q2900-ITX motherboard with in-built Intel Quad-Core Pentium Processor J2900. It stucks during installation on the same spot as on the picture. I left it for one hour and nothing happend. I changed flash key that I use for installation. I used same flash key that I used for another successful installation but nothing happend. Than I tried to run some Ubuntu and it is running and working. Where is the problem?

What version are you trying to install?

That's not very useful without knowing what your hardware is.
i have
asrock q1900m with a Intel Celeron J1900 on board, ram is a 8GB Kingston ValueRAM DDR3-1600 DIMM CL11 Single and one card Delock 89243 2 Port PCIe 2.0 x1 inkl. Low Profile. thats all

i use a 4gb usb 2 stick as install medium and a 16 gb sandisk usb 3 stick as target

Were you able to resolve this? If not, which utility/instructions did you use to write the installation image to the installation disk? Does using an 8GB install disk result in a working installation?

I have seen this on my Threadripper system. As far I understand, the issue seems to be related to PCIe enumeration and driver install, or similar.
My Threadipper has an antiquated video card and it does take some time for the boot process to take place. When I see the "Booting..." stuck at it is, I would wait maybe 30 seconds more but normally I wouldn't wait that long.
Upon doing a forced shutdown by holding the Power switch for a few seconds, usually the second time around the system would boot successfully.
Replacing my old video card with a more recent one, this issue seems to have disappeared and rebooting was a no brainer.

I think there is a racing condition or a time out on the kernel or boot section causing a lock of some kind.

I let my sytem in "stucked booting" for one hour, but nothing changed. My system is quite slow but still i think, that one hour is too much. I used same usb key for installation on another pc and it was successful. I decided to use previous version 11.1-U6.3 and it is running. So there must be some bug.

Almost the same config here. Tried different tools for USB creation. I think my problem ist that my UEFI doesn't even offer the option whether to boot in UEFI or Legacy mode with the prepared USB stick. As soon as I deactivate CSM it doesn't display my USB stick at all.
Is it normal that there is just one GTP partition on the stick after writing the iso?

P.S.: newest BIOS version installed.

P.P.S.: it's not totally stuck. The dash below keeps spinning but even after minutes no change at all.

I am doing this whole thing just because the update via GUI doesn't work too (reboots and won't start no more). Stuck with 11.1 U6

When you reach the spinning dash, have you tried forcing a shutdown, not a reset.
The second time around it should start, hopefullly.
I would suggest you do that a few times and see how it works.

My case has just one button so it's always a forced shutdown. I'll try again. How long can it take in this step?

Strange thing is that I have the same ASROCK Mainboard and for me every update until 11.2 worked from the GUI (since 2015!) without a problem but with 11.2 it won't work at all...

From what I can remember, it wouldn't take very long. I have it installed on a SSD, but using the old video card the boot process is definitely slow down as opposed to having a more recent one.
I don't think you would have to way longer than 5 minutes. Just try to do it a few times, if it still doesn't work. wait a bit more. Waiting for one hour is way too much so I wouldm't even try.
I don't know if I tried booting with an older than Freenas 11.2 om my Threadripper so I cannot comment.

I've tried again but no success (waited for 10 minutes at the "booting..." screen ring after the selection. I think it has something to do with this whole UEFI/USB topic 11.2 has.
As mentioned the update via GUI won't work either. After the reboot it gets stuck and forces me to switch back.

When I start up I can choose with an attached empty stick between UEFI and USB. With the attached USB stick with the installation files I just got one option. Can this be the reason?

I can't say if UEFI/USB is the issue. Can you try disabling USB and try installing Freenas on a disk, HDD or SSD?
If you use Windows, you could run Diskpart in CMD and wipe the USB drive, I have had problem in the past with old USB drive having Grub installed. I don't know if this is going to help though, but worth trying.

I mean, installing Freenas on a HDD or SSD and boot from it.

I got you but the whole problem in this thread is that we can't even properly start the imstallation files placed on a usb stick. How should we install anywhere if the setup won't start at all?

I think there is no issue installing from USB to SSD. The problem is to boot Freenas from USB, and this should be resolved when booting from SSD ( assuming the issue is related to USB not being supported properly by FreeBSD 11.2). Yet, I had trouble on my Threadripper due to video card.

No one in this thread is able to start the installation. It doesn't get to the point where we can choose where to install. Therefore we are not able to install to SSDs, HDDs or whatever. We need a hint how to get the setup running.
