Installation of new software in a jail on 11.2U7

hi, i wanted to install some packages for cd ripping into a jail on my new freenas install, but after some googling it appears that since freebsd 11.2 is at end-of-life, this is not possible at all currently. is that correct? or is there some way to install 11.2 ports still?

Since 11.2u7 you can install a jail with a higher release, see here.
So you can install a 11.3 or upgrade the jail from 11.2 to 11.3 (make sure to snapshot the jail before doing that, just to be sure)

oh!? interesting, i thought that higher freebsd versions in jails were generally impossible. since it's a new jail any way i will try that out, thanks!

Until 11.2-U7 that was the case, but with that release you've been able to create 11.3 jails.
