I'm a "Noob" at FreeNAS

Hello, I'm new to FreeNAS basically I have 2 hard drives 1 of them is 250GB and The other is 500GB, I think RAID0 will be perfect? How do I setup RAID0 please tell me by steps.

Welcome to the forums. Can you provide us with a little more information.

What motherboard do you plan on using? Why boot drive? What do you want to use this system for?

Also, if you are considering FreeNAS, please take advantage of the resources such as the manual and this informative slideshow put together that explains the basic underpinnings of FreeNAS.

FreeNAS is not for you then. I would recommend checking out alternatives.

RAID0 is only useful when the files are not valuable. A single drive failure can lose all files, so RAID0, or a "stripe" of drives, is not often used with FreeNAS. RAID1 is a mirror, and can survive a single drive failure, so is much more common.
