Hello all. Very long time since I have last posted!

I'm specifically posting here as I know there are many, many datacenter professionals around who have been a GREAT help to me in the past and hopefully someone may remember this device! I know this is not directly TrueNAS related, but I will be configuring it as a backup for my TrueNAS for a little bit of fun, but mostly for the challenge!

The IBM ULT3582-TL is a tape drive 4U device. It came for free with I bought my 42U IBM rack about 6 years ago and I'm just getting around to playing with it now. I was able to set up the networking and I can access the RMU (Remote Management Unit) via my browser and I can see the status page fine. However, whenever I click on almost anything else, I'm asked for the username and password. Unfortunately, the company I purchased the rack from is no longer around and it will be impossible to find their admin to see if they may remember the credentials. As this device has been discontinued by IBM, it took hours this morning to scrape the net and find the manual. But alas, there is nothing in the manual, nor the config options on the small LCD of the tape backup itself that would allow me to reset the admin username/password, or even set the entire device to a factory default.

I even thought about attempting a firmware update, but apparently the only way to perform that is to have the new firmware on a tape that gets loaded into the machine and that may take a few more weeks of net trolling to see if I may be able to access any Devine intervention to find one...

So, is there any possibility that anyone out there might have ever worked with one of these tape backup drives and if so, any thoughts on how one may be able to reset the RMU username and password? (I haven't even been able to find any kind of default username either... So I have no idea if it's admin, root, superadmin, generalclustermuck, scoobydoo, or what...)

If I can get the drive working, I will be attempting to use it via a fiber channel cable directly from my TrueNAS to the tape drive. I just have to wait for the fiber channel HBA I ordered to arrive within the next few days, but if I can't get access I'll have to send the HBA back and wear a sad face for a week or two.

PS - I have been, and still am working on some major upgrades to my home lab this month and next as follows:

- hardware migration for my main TrueNAS server
- possible hardware migration from my current backup TrueNAS server to the old server skeleton
- upgrading to 10Gbe LAN
- adding in a completely new 1U Supermicro server that has 6 x 10Bge ports and 4 x 3.5 drive bays, which will run proxmox with two vm's
- one vm for pfsense
- one vm for TrueNAS simply because the thought of ot utilizing the 4 drive bays plays hacov with my ocd...

Anyways, as it's been a crazy long time since I've posted, plese feel free to move this somewhere else on the forums if I'm in the wrong spot again... Trying to post this quick as the wife is nagging for me to start dinner... *sigh*

Thanks to ANY help anyone can offer in advance!!!
