Hello

I'm currently using TrueNAS-13.0-BETA1 and got multiple pools for media, game installations and of course backup.

I've switched my phone to samsung galaxy m32 which have network storage feature. I've added my nas thru smb and everything works perfectly. But the thing is my user works both windows or android meanwhile other users only work on windows. When I try to use another user on android It tells me wrong password check account details. But that user works fine on windows smb.

Tried to set one of the users acl exactly as mine but didn't work. Same groups and everything.
Restarted SMB service multiple times - didn't work
Restarted whole nas - nope
created fresh user - u-uh
gave user full admin privilages - fail again

I don't know what to do guys. Any ideas?

I'm not able to get SMB to work at all for some reason. I did a clean install and loaded my config, I've also since reset the network adapters from the console menu, as well as the web UI.

When I enable SMB, I get this in the log:

I've tried changing these settings, when I add my routers IP to the default gateway I get:

Code:

Edit:
Hmm :/

Edit2:
I changed my system dataset to another pool, and now I can restart tge avahi daemon, tried setting all the other network stuff again and still not showing up on network :( still getting those errors when I enable SMB.

On startup I get this:
1645763879786.png

can't find etc/hostid seems like it might be to do with it.

Edit:
I saved my config and installed the latest beta on another drive, it started fine without the missing /etc/hostid message, I restored my config, after a couple restarts it was back and network problems again. I guess I just have to start clean.

Well I've reset my router and restarted my whole network multiple times but I can't get SMB working. Well, it seems to be working now, but I can't see it on windows 11 network places.

Update: I found a shortcut to something on a shared drive and tried it, and windows prompted me for a login - so the problem seems to be 'seeing' the network in network places.

I am using Android Samba Client from Google for accessing my TrueNAS from Mobile device. Connected via WiFi into my local network.

I know what I am about to ask will seem very stupid and basic for you, but please understand I just want to learn and be helped.

I have installed the Android Samba Client, but I have no idea how to access the smb share on my TrueNAS. I have tried every combination of path, domain, user, password. Can you please help me understand how to correctly set this up? Thank you so much.

In Share path, i put //IPofNAS/Sharename, Domain is empty and Username/Password that one for the SMB share.

As said, i connect my phone via WiFi into my home network before. I use stock file browser for access to the share then.

That worked!!!!

Thank you so much!!

I tried everything except for the simple obvious solution.

You are so kind for helping me, I really appreciate it.

Thanks again!

I am using my files on my samsung gallaxy to access my SMB shares. It's pretty straight forward. You use your ip address from your truenas and use the same username and password you use to access the SMB on windows.
