HTTPS was working on my freenas installation and now it is not. I'm not sure why, or if I have done something to cause this.

Is there any way that I can regenerate the certificates to fix this?

any help appreciated.

Thanks

running freenas 9.2.1.5 on HP N40L

It's useful to know what happened. Anything related in /var/log/messages? What error do you get e.g. how is it not working?

I will have a dig and see if I can find something. It stopped about 3 weeks ago and persisted through upgrade 9.2.1.4.1 to 9.2.1.5

Sorry for the delay,

I've looked at /var/log/messages and there is nothing there. This happened a long time ago now and the messages are full of failing SMART tests from one busted HDD I have for testing purposes.

Any ideas on how to regenerate the certs for a freenas install?

Kind of, but then not really. I'm migrating to xeon machine from an HP N40L and believe it or not the same problem happened again. I can get it to go away if I delete the SSL cert in the freenas GUI, disable HTTPS, go back and delete the SSL cert again, then re-enable HTTPs.. the console shows generating SSL etc etc and it works. However, on reboot it goes back to not working.

unfortunately I'm as I'm in between builds every time i reboot I need to re-map a bunch of network shares and configure the storage on my jails.. etc. it is a bit time consuming. I'm currently waiting on a new HDD and will power down and install that plus some other stuff so I can let you know. All i know is that it has persisted for whatever reason over several versions of freenas 9.2.1.4 - 5.

Do you have this problem?

Nope, and this is a strange problem I haven't seen before.

indeed it just did it again, reboot... and the certificate is not valid... falling back to http.

it works if i just select http in the general settings, then apply, then click http+https and apply.

reckon this might be a bug?

Might be... What's the system hardware, amount of RAM, etc.?

Weird, I just got this same error on only one of my machines, as far as I can tell, they are setup the same way.
I have attempted the various fixes above, but don't seem to work.

Same problem here.

My workarround.

- Change the WebGUI IPv4 Adress to a single IP.
- Save.
- Change the Protocol to http only.
- Save.
- Change the Protocol to http+https.
- Save.
- Logout.

I can now login with https and the correct certificate.

Update : After a reboot it is broken again. SRY.

Has anyone created a bug report at bugs.freenas.org? It won't get fixed without one.
