How ZIL help the write performace

the speed of the system to write the zil to disk (RAM/SSD/spindle) will control how fast your write performance is. I haven't had the ability to see more than about 300Mbit on my system, but I know if you have 10g, you will need to put the zil on a RAM card for it to keep up with 10g.
