How can I fix "Authenticate/Decrypt packet error: bad packet ID" errors in Transmission Jail with OpenVPN over PIA?

Whenever I put a certain amount of traffic in my Transmission Jail (e.g. downloading a Torrent at 5 MB/sec or more) my /var/log/messages/ file gets filled with these kinds of messages:

I also get intermittent disconnects from PIA. I've already tried searching for this error but so far haven't come up with any solutions how to fix this issue. Would love to receive some assistance with troubleshooting this issue.
