Hi all
Have been wandering around the net try to find answers for my home Freenas server project and decided to sign up to the group.
UK life is fun apart from the Weather and the Taxes, so due to the weather i tend to watch a lot of movies, and decided to build my own NAS...
now i have built out of an old rack mount into:-
Intel SB5500BC motherboard
2 x E5620 Xeon Processors @ 2.4
16gig ECC ram
M1015 - flashed to 9211-8ti
6 x 2tb Segate enterprise SAS drives
2 x 2tb WD red's
Changed all the cooling fans to get rid of the howler's that were in there and temperatures are looking good cpu's are running at about 35-40% load peak and 28-30 degrees.
Plex media server installed and running great.
Now playing with ubuntu on a VM which is running a 24/7 csgo competitive server
Never done anything with linux before so pretty green.
hoping you guys can bail me out when i get in too deep.
Cheers
all
Jim
