Hi.
Looking for help with replication configuration, for home server.
I have 3 pools:
/Data - main dataset, raid1 HDD.
/ssd - single ssd for iocage
/evo - single ssd for jail data storage.
and offsite backup truenas server.
both machines running core 13.0-U2
I got daily snapshot>replication from both ssd's to /Data/backups/ (I don’t trust those ssd's)
after that I got extra snapshot/replication from /Data to offsite machine. [configs attached]
Main problem:
if I delete child dataset from ssd (i.e. jails), it won’t expire on /Data, because my second snapshot/replication task will keep creating snapshots for those datasets.
I tried excluding /Data/backups/ from snapshot creation, and keeping it at replication settings, but the software won’t let me do it.
option 2 - keep /Data/backups/ excluded on main offsite replication
add secondary replications, from ssd's directly to offsite (which will prob look ugly, hopefully not)
I prefer not to use option 2. because I prefer one stream of uploading information to offsite, instead of multiple streams competing over same vpn upload bandwight.
Any better suggestion, or should I use option 2?
Thanks.
