help needed configuring 1027R-72BRFTP with AOC-S3008L-L8e

we have recived the hardware (hopefully i did not order the wrong items)
mother board 1027R-72BRFTP raid controller AOC-S3008L-L8e

how i can connect the ssds (sas 3) to the controller?
can i connect the drives directly to the onboard ? or what cable do i need to connect it

Are you flashing this to IT mode? If so you may opt to refer to it as an HBA so as not to confuse folks into thinking you're using hardware RAID with FreeNAS.

You can purchase breakout cables to dirrectly connect sas or sata drives. Be sure you get the correct "dorection" as breakout cables are directional and intended for different uses. You'll want one designed to have a single plug into the HBA and 4 plugs directly to the drives.

You can definitely directly connect drives to you motherboard as well.

If, between the motherboard and the HBA you still need more slots you can pick up a SAS expander rather than buying a whole new HBA and save a bit of money.
