Since several days/months, (and probably after having switch to FreeNAS-9.2.0-RELEASE-x64 ab098f4), I got some checksum errors for one then two disks.
I checked according :
[root@freenas] ~# zdb -C | grep ashift
ashift: 9
So I know I am with 512B block size, but even if I am loosing some performance, for now I cannot change all the disks.
Because of the checksum errors, I changed the disks according the 'right' procedure. (By the way : the dismounted disks were checked with CrystaDiskInfo under windows and appeared 'correct').
BUT the problems arised again, again change the disks, and then worse I could never get the new disk ON Line. I mean the 'Replace Disk' button did not show any disk availaible (no Member disk to choose).
Whatever I try I had either OFFLINE, or UNAVAIL and even REMOVED !.
Now I am lost.
Could anybody can tell me :
1) what could be the cause of not having a new disk appearing as a member to choose ?
2) how can I get the new disks On Line ?
3) any idea of what I can/should do ?
Thanks a lot
Dominique

YOu using the same sata ports the allegedly failed but apparently good disks were using? It's possible those ports are broken now...

In any case, you have no redundancy left on your pool, so I'd be replacing that disk ASAP or shutting down the system. All you need is a flaky disk right now and your pool will be done for. I hope you have backups...

Hi,

Thanks a lot cyberjock for your very fast answer.
These 2 disk are connected to a 4 ports PCI SATAII 150-300 Promise . I already change the ports, but same thing. I may have a spare card !... . I will change it as soon as possible. I know I have no redundancy so the NAS is shutdown for now.
Thanks
Dominique
