I am running 9.3 and I am trying to use the Backup function from the GUI to backup my configuration to a windows machine on the network. I keep getting an error 61 - connection refused. I have the IP address right, and the username. The windows machine has no password - is this the issue? Thanks.

You probably don't have a SSH server running on your Windows machine.

There is very little documentation on the Backup function in the FreeNAS manual, but it does list this requirement. If you'd like a copy of the manaul in PDF format, you can download using a link in my signature. Do a search for "Create Backup".

If all you want to do is backup the configuration file, search the documentation for "Save Config". You can do it via the webGUI and save it to your Windows machine without the need for a SSH server. The documentation also has a link back to the forum to show you how you could automate the backup of the file, using a cron job.

I do this every time I make a configuration change. It is really easy to do through the GUI.
