New to freenas, looking to build my machine soon. I will post the parts list as well.

The question I have, can a mod/admin change my username please? I tried sending a message to mods, but kept getting spam messages. :|

It's all good, I am sure it has something to do with me being a new user, not have 'x' amount of posts before being able to message the staff here. Sure there is a setting in the XenForo admin panel that allows for the ability to message after being 'verified'. I know this is all combat spam that Xenforo tends to gather.

I'd like to say a few things... Do a lot of reading before purchasing hardware for your system. If you are using old hardware then you need to be aware of the pitfalls by using that hardware. If you have a question, try a Google (or your favorite browser) and include "freenas" or "freebsd" depending on the question and you might be surprised on how much information there is online.

I hope you experience with both FreeNAS and the forums is a good one.

I've actually been lurking a ton on /r/freenas and had no clue there was forum dedicated to FreeNas XD. My build will definitely be all brand new. I have little experience with FreeNAS, but definitely nothing to write home about. So yes, I definitely have some reading up to do here. I plan posting my parts list (what I plan on buying) when I get back from trip. Hopefully all the research that I have done prior to getting here will have helped a little.

Coming from Windows (SysAdmin), this doesn't look that intimidating, but it definitely looks like it has it's special touch to it.

Look forward to meeting more people on the Forums. Questions to come in the future!
