I recently built a FreeNAS machine with 4- 4TB drives.
When I got FreeNAS up and running it showed 3- 4TB drives, and while there is probably a way to show which of the drives is bad, I'm not sure what it is (other than taking the drives out and comparing the serial numbers).
Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks-

I had a similar problem, when I opened it up I labeled each bay # and put the drive serial on it also

This type (da5, ada5) of labeling is pretty much a waste of time due to the
possibility of that designation changing at some point during the server's lifetime.
The serial number labels are the way to go, as those are always drive specific.

User Documentation Tip:
"If a disk’s serial number is not displayed in the View Disks screen, use the smartctl command from Shell.
Type the command smartctl -a /dev/ada0 | grep Serial."

Big Dave knocked it out of the park for me. I was trying to find out how to identify drive that didn't show up (with or without serial numbers) and he gave me the answer.
Thanks
