Hello,

I am moderately new to FreeNAS as I have a FreeNAS experiment running for about 9 months and now have decided to beef things up a little and make it a more permanent fixture in my rack.

I have a new build with a fresh install and 2 issues i cannot figure out and after searching google and the forums, no one else seems to be having the same problem so i hope someone can shed some light on the issue.

Build Summary
Supermicro X9 (1155)
PERC310 with 9211-8i firmware
2 x Intel 300 160
6 x WD RED 4TB
16GB Ram

No pools created (only boot mirror)

When I goto "Storage > Disk" i can see all 8 drives with serial numbers but "Disk Size" is blank.

Disk info & smartctl both show the appropriate disk size.

This might be a bug. I was doing some tests this weekend and found that two 4TB drives connected with SATA would show up correctly, but those same disks would not show up correctly when connection was by SAS.
I am not sure where the bug is but it appears to be in the base OS.
I tested this hardware in Linux and Windows to try and rule out the hardware and in both other environments, it all works as expected.
The fault only happens in FreeNAS and only happens when the drives are on a SAS controller.
I ran out of time, but the next test was going to be with TrueOS but I didn't get that done.

I don’t know if I would consider it “resolved” however in the legacy interface, the disk sizes on both the mainboard and LSI were showing disk sizes appropriately.

I went ahead and created a pool and after that the drives displayed correctly in both interfaces.

Do you have multipath IO? The 'new' UI has several bugs with it that the "old" UI does not.

How would I know? I’m only familiar with MPIO as it relates to iSCSI and at the time (or now) I didn’t/don’t have any iSCSI volumes setup. It was a fresh install with no pools created. Dual NIC’s but only one in use as I had not setup an agg group yet.
