Hi there,

is it possible to put all hdds with a command from the cli into standby?

I want to put all disks in standby with a cronjob at night. If the system is needed it would wake up die discs automatically.

Is this possible?

Thanks

For SCSI disks (daX) you may use `camcontrol stop daX`. For ATA disks (adaX) - `camcontrol standby adaX`. In both cases disks should spin-up automatically on request, but it may take up to 10-15 seconds.

Thanks!

The problem is that the discs nearly immediately wake up again. May this the " zpool list -H -o health ifs" command?

I have no extra software running on the freenas :/

Seems so. It spun up disks for me too. But it did it only once. Subsequent runs seem doesn't touch the disks any more. So you may try just to set disk's standby timeouts to some large value to make them standby automatically when there is nothing to do. If they will be woken occasionally, they will get back to sleep later.
