I managed to get everything else working fine on my TrueNAS machine but no matter how much I searched online for a way to connect to my machine from outside my house, I just couldn't find anything.

I would really appreciate it if someone were to help me here, I'd also like if this works with NextCloud too

You could set up OpenVPN. Not sure on NextCloud but probably yes.

--- Edit ---
There is a little more complexity to this just just installing OpenVPN. You need your firewall rules, etc. Does your router have a VPN option?

I WOULD NOT recommend opening up your TrueNAS box directly to the Internet.

My router does have an option to turn off the firewall but not a VPN option. Could you elaborate a bit on how to setup OpenVPN?

@mokkori - The first part is to create the certificate and the public/private keys. I don't know if you are using Linux or Windows but here are a couple of links (you may find better ones in a web search) for creating the certificate and keys
Basically, this allows a certificate to authenticate the client and the server to each other.
