Hi everybody,

My question is rather strange or just too easy for me to understand :p.
I'm upgrading my nas build with a new cpu new power supply new ram new motherboard new NIC, but i'm going to use the old hard drives.
My question is, Are my settings going to run faulty considering my upgrade to a new hardware configuration? or dus freenas just rewrites everything by itself and recognizing the new build.

thanks in advance

Unlike Windows, FreeNAS does not mold itself into every little crack and crevice of your hardware, marrying itself forevermore to your hardware.

That having been said, a FreeNAS upgrade can be made substantially more difficult if you have chosen different hardware, such as going from an i386 with bge ethernet and a RAID controller to an amd64 with em ethernet and a pure HBA.

Adding memory is problem-free.

If you were already on amd64 (looks like it?), then you're fine for a CPU upgrade without fuss.

What kind of network cards and storage controllers did you and will you have?
