Hard drive with data add and not to format

is there a way to add a Hard drive and not format? if i have data on it and just want to plugin to network and add under freeNas???

Yes, but it depends on what type of file system it has. You can do NTFS, Fat32, Ext2, UFS. I'll try and find the official list and post a link.
