GUI "dataset type" same as "permission type"?

When you create a new dateset the field "dataset type" is available, is this the same as "permission type" field when changing dataset permissions through the GUI?


Also, a CIFS share should be used with a Windows dataset type. FTP operate with Unix type & shouldn't be used to access that same windows dataset because it can mess with ACL permissions and file locking. For a jail plugin like BTsync or Transmission that needs to read/write to a windows dataset type, what to do?
