I have 2 brand new SanDisk Ultra Fit 32GB USB 3.0 in a mirror. I installed 9.10 U1 from the ISO file and installed to both USBs. At the Grub menu I got the error: compression algorithm 92 not supported and the system still booted up and was working. I just upgraded to U2 latest stable release and now I get at the Grub menu error: unsupported embedded BP (type=66). The System>Update>verify install says everything is ok and everything seems to work. What do those errors mean and do I need to be concerned about them?

Possible USB 3.0 issues? Im not too sure on this one. If all works and verifies, then something is hokey.

@John Digital One stick is in the USB 2.0 header on the motherboard and the other is in a USB 3.0 port on the back of the motherboard. I alternated removing the USB sticks to boot from one or the other location and still got the errors at the Grub menu. I guess I won't worry about it as everything works. Thanks.

I have the exact same issue with the clean installation of 11.1 from CD:

error: unsupported embedded BP (type=77)

It repeats the message several times and adds at least a 4min delay to the boot time. However it does boot and seem to work properly.

I have two 16GB Kingston branded USB 3.0 USB keys and I have moved both of the to the back of the system board from the inside header just to test. I'm not sure since what version of FreeNAS, but the new version take at least 10min in total to boot on my setup. It used to be about ~3min or so before.

I suppose one reason could be because the OS is much larger now (it used to run off of a 4GB USB key before and 2GB was recommended). Nowadays they also recommend 8GB of RAM (my system only has 6GB at the moment and I am not planning on upgrading this particular system). I'm not sure if I'm willing to buy a new FreeNAS recommended system with Xeon processor and min. 8GB of RAM for home use. I just don't have the budget for that. For now I'm stuck with what I've got.

I've never had these errors before. My guesses are ranged, but trying different flash drives, or better yet, if in a mirror, boot from each drive one at a time, will be the easiest place to start. Seems a faulty drive might cause this issues. If it's not that maybe one of the more knowledgeable members can offer something.
