FYI, I've updated 5 systems from 11.2u1 to 11.2u2 in the last day and for 2 of them, it broke the bootloader such that it was not bootable. 11.2u2 hung almost immediately & trying to revert to 11.2u1 or 11.2 release from the boot menu failed. Had to reinstall 11.2 release then the 11.2u2 upgrade suceeded. I have not found any common thread on the 2 systems that failed to update - different MB, chipset, boot device (all SATA - 4 Intel, 1 AMD). Have not included any system details since it applied to 2 different systems. All are circa 2012-3, 4 Intel, 1 AMD. Some with boot sata via USB3 external case, some with internal sata boot - no commonality I can see.
Don't really expect solutions since random not reproducible error, but it seems the FreeBSD bootloader may be more temporamental than GRUB.
thanks,
jlp
