i did have a mirrored usb boot which i broke by playing around.

i have a usb stick with the latest freenas iso burnt to it and i it seems to work - the disk boots and i hit install freenas. it will not complete the process i tried with 4 different usbs and now i have a 2.5" hdd.

the errors where when the installer was looking for media to install to all the usbs failed - so i tried my hdd.
this failed with - mounting from cd9660:/dev/iso9660/FreeNAS_INSTALL failed with error 19.

i thought it would be simple to reinstall - that's part of the reason i was fiddling. i haven't used an iso to install since 2012 - all i was doing was upgrading.

any help will be gratefully received

okay - i have my boot back - there was a problem with one of the usb drives i burned - the second runs great.
i've imported my configuration - the only problem has been the ipmi.

in the middle of everything the ipmi broke - i tried fixing it but the boot takes about 10 mins because it's waiting for or trying to write the ipmi thingy.

if i have anymore problems i'll probably post a new thread
