Hello everyone
I could use some advice on my FreeNAS box
I've searched a bit here on the forum to get information about 9.1.1 but I have not found that much.

I have read http://doc.freenas.org/index.php/Main_Page focusing on upgrading freenas
I have not found anything that seems to be scary for my envrionment

My home environment looks like this:
Current FreeNAS: FreeNAS-8.3.0-RELEASE-x64 (r12701M)
Motherboard: Supermicro X7SPA-HF-D525-O Intel Atom D525 1.8GHz Motherboard
Platform: Intel Atom
Memory: 8176
Disk: 6x WDC WD30EZRK 1 SSD
I have a big Volyme at 10.7 T zfs with an SSD cache disk

It may well be that I am not able to find the right questions on the forums, via search, or the 9.1.1 just solid ROCK SOLID

I just want to hear if there is anyoneels who has gone from 8.3.0 with similar hardware
Is is it to do it?

Grateful for input :)

I've gone to 9.1.1, works perfectly.
Also, if you do not upgrade your zpool, you can always go back to 8.3.1 if something is not working.

So what warri is saying is don't upgrade your zpool version until you are 100% sure you don't ever want to go back to 8.x. As there's no pressing need to upgrade, I haven't for 2 months now. :)

Warri !
Cyberjock!

Thx for your input.

I guess I need to make a roadmap to secure the data before I continiue my path to 9.1.1

No, your data is completely safe with 9.x. Just don't go to the CLI and run the zpool command until you are SURE you won't go back. Since I haven't upgraded my zpool to the v5000 format I could go back to 8.3.x right now if I needed to.

Cyberjock! I would not even dream of doing any ssh until I am certin of what I am doing and have tested it.
Thx for the advice!

My first goal now would be to have some backup of some of the data that I have on a another Freenas. Just in case of Murphy Law

Perhaps even bring on a jet another freenas to test that I can do the upgrade and be certain of the procedurs.
I would not even want to think the thought of disaster.

Yes, I know that someone might think that I am "hyper catious"
Better to be safe then sorry
