Fresh install; old RAID array trying to rebuild

I'm changing from having an ESXi 7 install, with a RAID 6 array via PowerEdge RAID Controller (PERC) H710p mini mono. The array was/ is 12 3TB Seagate SAS drives.

Before starting the install, I swapped in an H310 mini mono, and flashed it to IT mode.

After the install (to SSDs in the Flex Bay, off of the same controller), the OS keeps sensing an existing array (the 12 drives) and trying to resync it. This holds up the boot process; so I took the drives out until successfully booting.

The drives were put back in, detected, and spun up. A few of them showed up in the GUI. Now, the OS is trying to resync again.

My plan is to use the CLI to issue commands a regular Debian system would take for removing an array.

If I make progress, but there's value to me re-creating the problem, I'm happy to try to get back to this state.

Other than that, I'm just reporting the experience so far.
