I think this should run FreeNas 8 with the ZFS file system.
If you have any input i would appreciate it as I am new to this.

I am assuming this is for a home server build...that said....

First, what sort of ZFS configuration do you wish to run?

Second, I think you should pick up the 8GB of G.SKILL memory for $44.99. link

Beyond that, I'm not sure why you need the IDE controller card, but if you're planning on running the OS off a physical IDE drive (flash or otherwise), it's not worth it. Just get a 4GB usb drive from BB for 5.99.

CPU/Boardwise, I went with an AMD X2 250, and an ASUS M4A78LT-M. They are cheaper than the intel stuff you picked out and I don't think you'll notice a performance difference but YMMV.

Thank you for your input, yes I was thinking of running Freenas off of the IDE but the USB option seems better.
Yes it is a home server as far as the ZFS config (just dink around with it and see which works better)

DDR3 is very very cheap now, go at least 8GB for ZFS using Freenas v8. BTW, how many terabytes are you gonna put in the box?
