I'm building a new FreeNAS server that will primarily be home use for storing photos and videos. I would like to be able to stream video over my LAN to jailbroken AppleTV2 and maybe use it as a Time Machine backup as well, but that's really it. CPU performance isn't a priority, but read/write speed obviously is. I'm really building this around some hardware I already have, which includes:

4) 2TB WD Black drives

and

3Ware 9650 Raid Card.

Here's the rest of the stuff I am considering:

Intel EXPI9301CTBLK 10/ 100/ 1000Mbps PCI-Express Network Adapter

Here it is in visual list format via Newegg.com

The MB has an IDE port which is cool so I can use a CF card internally.

I'm wondering about an SSD or two for Cache? Is it necessary for my application?

Thanks for the input!!
