Can someone please tell me what this means:

freenas.local kernel log messages:

pid 19827 (smbd), uid 65534: exited on signal 10
pid 19828 (smbd), uid 65534: exited on signal 10
pid 20108 (smbd), uid 65534: exited on signal 10
pid 20111 (smbd), uid 65534: exited on signal 10

There are about 30 lines of this with different pid numbers

I googled it but only found exited on signal 11, which was interpreted as bad ram.

If you could post your total hardware on your FreeNAS server and FreeNAS version too please.

This is the hardware and version of freenas on my homebuilt freenas server

Build: FreeNAS 9.2.1.5 (80c1d35)
CPU: Intel i3 3220@3.3GHz
RAM: 16259mb Non ECC Kingston HyperX x2 8Gb sticks
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H61MA-D3V
PSU: 450Watt (about 3 years old now)
x3 WD Red 2Tb in one pool, and x2 1Tb in another pool

All inside a oldish Lian-Li aluminum case with 4 built in fans.

I was running FreeNAS 9.2.0.0 for about 12 months and didn't have email reporting turned on as it were. It is about 2 weeks since I upgraded FreeNAS, and about 4 days since I have had email reporting turned on.

If it anything to do with the motherboard, I am going to change it soon to a Supermicro board

And your RAM too. I didn't look up the CPU but it will need to be ECC compatible too.

I have just seen that the CPU I have does support ECC ram. And yes I will be getting ECC ram as well.

The Gigabyte motherboard you listed above won't support ECC RAM so you will *have* to go with Supermicro (or another server-grade board) to use ECC.

That's the board I am using. Very good choice!

Phew! Thanks for that.
I'll get some ECC ram ordered for it now.

Very similiar to the x9scl.. Just looks like c202 with 6xsata2 versus yours c204 with the 2xsata3/4xsata2...

Yes I looked at the x9scl board as well, and saw the difference with sata ports. I just picked x9scm as I think it will suite me better.

Out of interest, when I change the board and ram, would it be just a straight swap and reboot my NAS box, or would there be anything else I may have to take care of.

You should be able to swap the hardware and boot up right away. You *may* have to do a single reboot just to get everything back in order, but that's not the norm.

Regarding the FreeNAS Security report, I have not had one since I took my 2 1TB drives offline and ticked 'New drives'

My supermicro board arrived today, that's the X9SCM, and see that it has a USB 2 port built into the board. Could or should I use that port for the FreeNAS USB stick so that the USB stick is permanently inside the case. I think it would be a good idea, but want a 2nd opinion.

Ok, great, thanks for that.
Just another q on that board if I may.

It states that a e3 1200 v2 cpu must be used if the ram speed is 1600MHz, which mine is. Presently I am using an i3 3320 cpu in a consumer board, and was going to use that the my X9SCM-F board. Does look like I'll have to buy another cpu.

Memory should automatically run at whatever speed the CPU supports. Double check in any case - if it's not, switch it to 1333MHz, if that's the maximum supported by the CPU.
