FREENAS MINI - DISASTER RECOVERY INSTRUCTIONS - HELP

I messaged some of the sales guys @ IX Systems on this, but they are only going to take me so far.

If the 16GB SATADOM stops working on these units, I wanted to know the easiest way to get one of these back up.


Since the config is on the zvols in .system...is there a recovery mode when I boot lets say FreeNAS from a USB stick?

You can (and should) perform routine backups of the config DB to an outside location. You can then reinstall the same version of FreeNAS, import the pool from the disks, and restore the config from backup.

Okay,

So lets pretend that I was not onsite....and that I did not have a second SATADOM.

Can I just boot to a USB stick, and import the config that is on the already healthy disks?

It has the information on the default location of latest config file saved on the system.
You might also tell that person that Midnight Commander (mc on the shell or SSH command line) is a convenient way to look for/at that file's information.
