Hello

Christmas coming Closer and i wish to buy a new NAS.

some thought about it i put there
http://wombat3.kozo.ch/j/index.php/...erfect-server/perfect-nas/perfect-nas-hw/9539

and i followed this Forum
https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?threads/all-your-x11ssh-f-questions-answered-here.40313/page-4

so the Queston would be
the Board Supermicro X11SSH-F still OK or bit old and there would be better
The Chassis i thought would hold 6HD, the Board would have 8 SATA3 so i could fix a ssd card insight and install there FreeNAS?
would it make sense to have to SSD for Freenas as a raide?

Which Prozessor should i buy?
How much RAM would be OK? 32GB?
Which CPU should i take?
would the hardware also work for FreeNAS 10?
Would the system itself be OK?

Most important - low Noise - low Power

Mostly it will Hold
- Backup from the Server
- Backup of VM
- MyMusic
- MyMovies (via PLEX)
- MyFotos

thanks for your feedbacks

@Dice
thanks for your feedback.
FreeNAS will run on the Hardware not a VM.
The VM on the Server will use the Share of the FreeNAS.

The date on that hardware guide is from before the x11 stuff was stable.

According to the dozens of others that are running that board and recommending it to others, it should be fine.
No, it's the new one.
there is a document https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?resources/hardware-recommendations-guide.12/
but a X11SSH-F
is not mentioned so it means it is not OK?
The reader is expected to read the document and understand why the recommendations were made. Conveniently, there's also a guide to X11 motherboards: https://forums.freenas.org/index.php?resources/so-you’ve-decided-to-buy-a-supermicro-x11-board.13/
