Hello All,

I am having an issue after installing update base-os-9.3.1-STABLE-42a76e8-dc0354b-6b89ca8. The upgrade processes OK, and reboots. During the bootup phase, it panics and boot loops. Rolling back the update and selecting a previous boot environment works fine. Here is my hardware config:

USB Boot: SanDisk Cruzer Fit CZ33 16GB USB 2.0 Low-Profile Flash Drive- SDCZ33-016G-B35

Mobo/CPU: ASRock Intel Avoton C2750 2.4GHz/DDR3/SATA3/V&2GbE/Mini-ITX Motherboard and CPU Combo C2750D4I

Memory: 32GB DDR3/DDR3L-1600MT/s (PC3-12800) DR x8 ECC UDIMMs

Hard Drives: 6x3TB RAIDZ1, 2x120GB SSD l2arc/zil

I have scrubbed the USB, my dataset, and deleted all previous boot environments (other then my current
base-os-9.3.1-STABLE-e3dfc97-93c5885-6b89ca8). Nothing really seems to work so far.

No BIOS updates are available for the board either.

I have attached a screenshot from the IPMI video I took while it attempts to boot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a failed update. If you have a spare USB to boot from, I suggest grabbing a copy of your config, install the latest stable to said drive, import your pool and restore your config.

I tried with no luck sadly. Also tried a different, non-USB 3.0 port with no luck.

Does a fresh install of the latest version work if you don't upload the old config?

No good. Installed on new USB drive. Attempted to update first before uploading config. Same panic after attempting to start ntpd from the looks of it.

Its definitely 9.3.1-STABLE-201511020249. Just attempted to upgrade again to check. Looking at issue 12135, I am pretty sure I am effected by it. Looks like I will be waiting on 201509282017 for now until a fix is found.

I just upgraded and was unable to boot. It would just loop and spam TONS of text on the screen. I had no choice but to install fresh (yet again) an older version. It is definitely something with this latest release.

It seems this bug has been fixed. To apply, just boot with the previous environment from Grub and re-apply the update.
