Hi Everyone.
I am wondering how I could get Freenas to run a mysql database so I can have all my XBMC instances to share the same database.

I think the best approach for now would be to setup a jail and run run mysql from there. Here's a link for a generic Jail tutorial:

Also, when FreeNAS 8.2 is released in about 6-8 weeks, there may be a plugin that would make it a little easier.

I have been thinking the same thing, what better place to put you central database than the server that holds the media and is always on.
Another alternative to running mysql natively would be to run it on a virtual machine running under freenas as well.
