Hi all,

I have installed the FreeNAS-9.10.2-U1 version, setup the network and am now trying to join it to the domain, however I am getting the following error:

  • '10.100.1.0/24\nCNF:c61ce50d-0e0f-4289-bb7b-a73a873afa33' does not appear to be an IPv4 or IPv6 network
this error appears when trying to enable the Active Directory Page.

The IP of the NAS is not even on the 10.100.1.0 network nor is it configured anywhere so far as I can see to use this address. I have checked DNS and have a computer account already setup in AD

Any help much appreciated

Thanks

See below, I've changed the domain and username but everything else is as is. Thanks

Someone else posted to check network, global config but the thread seems to have gone.
I have populated
  • Hostname which matches the computer in AD
  • Domain of domain.com
  • default gateway for ip4
  • nameserver of our local dns server
  • and even put a hostname database entry of 10.0.0.0 servername.domain.com for example

Update - no matter what I did I couldn't get this to work so i ended up sticking a copy of windows server on it as I needed this running. One thing to add is though that the NIC in server 2016 wasn't working so I had to update the bios, I am now wondering if this might have caused an issue with freenas. Unfortunately I dont have the time to go back and reinstall freenas to test my theory.

Just thought I would post the update in case anyone else has a similar issue, i was running it on a HP Microserver Gen7

I wanted to bump this question since I'm having the same problem with version 9.10.2-U3 running inside a VMware VM. Our domain controllers are Server 2012 R2 at 2008 R2 functional level. My exact error message is

'192.168.0.0/23\nCNF:2e0fdc57-9692-4cf5-b75a-ec929b01c041' does not appear to be an IPv4 or IPv6 network

One thing that I've noticed is that the ip address referenced in the error message changes every so often to another one of our IP ranges 10.10.100.0/24. The server's forward and reverse DNS entries are for 192.168.0.60 and I can successfully resolve the hostname from the shell of the freenas server.

Thanks in advance!
