Hey,

Tried yesterday to upgrade from FreeNAS-9.10.2-U3 (e1497f269) to FreeNAS-11.0-RC. The installation itself went fine, but would when the server needed to reboot, it did not get past the following.

"Welcome to GRUB"

No menu, or anything, just the above text. After showing the text for a second, the server would reboot.

I upgraded by switching to FreeNAS-11 Stable train, and applied the update.

I'm currently back on FreeNAS-9.10.2-U3.

HW specs:

FreeNAS-9.10.2-U3 (e1497f269)
Intel i3-4330
Supermicro X10SL7-F
32GB DDR3 ECC 1.35V 1600 MHz
10x3TB in RAID-Z2
2x16GB USB mirrored
Seasonic G-450

I'd suggest you try again. If it still fails, replace the boot devices.

Edit: Ninja'd.

I made a backup of my config file. Made a fresh install in a new boot environment, and now it works. Thanks for the answers!

One problem, though. I have two encrypted zpools, tank and ssd. I cannot unlock them with passphrase, i had to use my recovery key.

Code:

You'll need to upload your keys that you backed up when you set-up the pool. You did backup your keys, right?

I do have my geli.keys.

Not sure where to upload them?

I think i found it. I have to import the volume, and then choose encrypted disks. But no disks are being shown??
