Got a R720xd, installed ESXi7u2 on a 64gb usb3 SanDisk on which I also created a partition for a data store... Hosting the FN OS. (not ruling this out as the cause)
Bought an H200, flashed to IT mode LSI firm. 20.00.07.00.
Pulled the mini off the mobo and ran my 2 mini-SAS cables from the backplane to the h200.
Passthrough enabled, works great. Driver ver. 21.02.00.00-fbsd.
It sits in the top slot (full height) I know it needs airflow so...
Closing chassis with fans forces me bend cables back considerably. Very unfortunate but kind of a desperate move.
iDRAC warns backplane SAS-A and SAS-B aren't connected properly. I'm guessing because it wants it's proprietary dell communication with the Mobo.
Should I use the single onboard mini-SAS connection?
(As in, not the dual mini-SAS used for the mini)
When it panics or locks up, I can't even hard stop the VM in esxi. The task just sits there and I eventually reboot the host.
Last thing on the vm console is something to the effect of...
scsi status busy
retrying command
read cbd error 5
Can't even find these console messages in the log var/db/system/syslog.../console.log or messages
Any ideas?
