FN 8.0.1-beta 2 Bug or Feature: drive serial numbers are not in sequence

I am thrilled that the developers added the drive serial numbers to the view disks screen. Checking against the scans of the drives I took before building my box I see that the physical drives are not in exact sequence, but are somewhat scattered around. This is certainly workable but curious.

I also noted that for my Hitachi drive the serial number listed in the GUI is much longer than what is printed on the disk physical label. The end of the GUI serial matches that on the actual drive.

zpool status shows funny disk 8

I'm running FreeNAS-8.0.1-BETA2-amd64 which I think is the latest download available, so I assume your title is a typo?

Anyway, where are you finding the view disks page? I can't work out where it is, despite looking at your screenshot. That's the downside of not making use of the URL bar...
