Hey everyone,

I have been toying around with the thought of building a new NAS for the past year since my current NAS (Synology DS411) is getting rather old and its disks need replacement aswell (most are nearing 10 year mark). Thus googling/youtube I stumbled upon freenas and building one myself, currently my NAS functions as a media streamer and back-up storage and contains 4x2 Tb disks. The main issue is compability with my current devices as those are flakey at best, I have a Samsung smart TV which requires a media streamer as its incompatible with my DS411 (and the DS411 is incompatible with PLEX) and upstairs i have a old tv with a chromecast which has issues aswell with my NAS...
I have been looking at Ryzen for its affordability and ECC support since my budget is limited at to just replacing my current storage capacity and the NAS itself (budget of around €300-350 for the NAS itself) (Case and PSU I already own)

Clicky

I am still at a loss for memory (my aim is 16 Gb for 16 Tb (2*8 Tb raid 1) of total storage in the future). I have been looking at other motherboards like the Asrock B450M Pro, biostar X370GT3 and the Biostar B450GT3 but I can't source the memory in my country at reasonable prices (double MRSP usually) and the QVL has only limited supported modules.
Anyone here have experience with Ryzen in their NAS and working memory.
