I went through the process of setting up an ethereum validator node (consisting of geth for execution-client and lighthouse for consensus-client) recently. This setup is now capable and ready to stake ETH in expectation for the upcoming merge which enables proof-of-stake as a replacement for proof-of-work.
I think this is a wonderful usecase for jails within an existing TrueNAS installation. Without any additional hardware and marginal performance hit your already existing NAS provides you with a nice additional income in case you have Ethereum in possession which you are willing to stake.
Would anyone be interested in a howto/guide for such a validator node setup?
