I installed FreeNAS using the USB method a few days ago. Install went without a hitch and got as far as setting up a volume and users; no shares yet. Left the machine on over night and the next day I there was an error showing after accessing the web page. No, I didn't get the error that was in the web page. I know bad move. However, I restated the system figuring a restart may work out. It didn't FreeNAS wouldn't complete the load. Not that I understand alot that popped up on the screen but the one area that kept scrolling or working over and over was the following:

(ada4: ata 5:0:0:0) Synchronize cache failed
GEOM: ada4: the secondary GPT table is corrupt or invalid
GEOM: ada4: using the primary only - recovery suggested.

FreeNAS ran this over and over I assume trying to get it to work. I tried to start FreeNAS in safe made up it got to a point and never when any further. So, I tried starting it with verbose so I could see more and the above was the same. It just kept trying. I haven't run a hard drive check to see if any of the drives may be at fault as they are new (WD Red 1TB). Will do once I return; school is calling. Thanks for any suggestions.

Got the same thing on one of my servers.
I guess it's not supposed to be like this...
Any suggestions??

Haven't heard anything about how to fix this. Guess I'll just redo the thumb drive and set it back up again after checking my drives. At least for me, I was only in the process of setting up accounts and shares. No stored data yet. Guess this isn't solvable. If it's not the drives or the thumb drive, I'll just install Win 2008 and go from there.

It was a bad harddrive (ada4) on my server.
Disabled the drive, and that solved both my issues.
Now I have great file transfer speed and no more file transfer interrupts on big files.
